Mary with Jezus by Gebroeders van Paridon

Antique plaster statue of Mary standing behind the young Jezus, holding his hands. as Queen of Heaven. Green painted with gold. Height 27 cm. Marked on the back with the number 816 and GebrvP, produced by the dutch gebroeders van Paridon around 1930.

Around 1905 the brothers Pieter (1876), Peter (1885) and Hendrik Van Paridon (1887) opened a studio in the Rozenstraat in the Jordaan. The brothers worked together with sculptors such as Jan Verdonk from Den Bosch, who designed statues in Toorop style. Many classic statues were made, often by antique example. After 1920 the Paridons switched to making Christian religious figures.

Antiek gipsen beeld van Maria die achter de jonge Jezus staat, zijn beide handen vast houdend. Groen met goud beschilderd. Aan de achterzijde gemerkt met het nummer 816 en GebrvP, geproduceerd rond 1950 door de Gebroeders van Paridon.
